I’m running for office to show up for You.

I’m running for office to show up for Kentucky.

Hi, I’m Ramona, and I’m a Louisville native. My wife and I live in the same house my parents raised me in, and, for the past four years, I’ve run my business from the same garage they ran their business from.

I’m a part of the local working class. Over the past 15 years working, I’ve experienced poverty, and many failures and success too. I’m a strong supporter of the working class, especially in these particularly difficult times. I know the struggle, because I, too, was recently laid off because of the pandemic.

Community is important to me. As a transgender woman, I’ve discovered a deeper connection with my local community.

These are all a part of why I’m running for office.

Kentucky House District 28 needs fresh leadership—leadership that understands the here and now.

I’m running to strengthen our community and empower the people who live and work in this area.

I’m running to strengthen unions, to overturn right-to-work legislation and other laws that hurt workers like me. We need a Kentucky that respects worker’s rights, not capitalizes on them.

I’m running to strengthen our public schools, ensure pension support for our teachers, and empower and nurture our students.

I’m running to give a voice to the underprivileged, of whom I know too well their struggle.

I’m running because all of these issues need action, and we need new leadership to make it happen. We can no longer vote for leaders that aren’t accessible, leaders that don’t show up.

I’m running to show up for you—for Kentucky—for us.

I humbly ask you to vote Ramona Thomas for Kentucky House District 28.
